Grey Havens Inn & Restaurant
Located on Harmon’s Harbor in Georgetown, Maine. |
Magnificent, historic Grey Havens Inn & Restaurant, located on Harmon’s Harbor in Georgetown, Maine. Please visit their new website at www.greyhavens.com for a virtual tour of this seaside treasure. “Blue” The Restaurant at Grey Havens has breakfast and dinner menus which can be viewed on the website, while The Bar at Blue has a lighter menu and offers signature cocktails. New owners Eve and Dick Roesler and Eve’s cousin Chuck recently purchased the Inn and are now open for business. Part of the extensive renovation work on this shingle-style Inn built in 1904, involved a new septic system due to the new full time restaurant. Very conscientious about using local contractors, Dick and Eve wanted Country Fare to install the new system as we had installed one on the ocean side of the property for the previous owners in 2000. In addition to the septic system, a new ramp to the wonderful covered deck was installed and the parking lot extended. |

| Septic system included sixty 4’ x 8’ x 13” concrete chambers (3 rows x 20 units long), one 1,500 gallon heavy duty septic tank, one 1,000 gallon two-compartment heavy duty grease trap tank and one Soil Air unit. Although the time frame for completion was tight due to weather, road postings, unexpected ledge removal and other additional work, we were able to complete most of the work before their Open House, April 17th. Our portion of this project was completed April 28th. |

| Replace existing precast concrete curb with new slip form concrete curb. Hannaford Supermarket and Wal-Mart had just completed store and lot renovations. Property owner W.S. Development needed to complete the “common” areas on this project before winter. WSD contacted Country Fare in late October when the contractor hired to do the project backed out. Work consisted of removing the existing precast curb, repair/replace precast curb in designated areas, prep for and install 2,500 l.f. of new slip form concrete curb. |

| Maine Department of Transportation Project - Harward’s Crossing Bridge Removal and Grade Change Route 24, Bowdoinham ME |
| Remove the Harward’s Crossing Bridge and change the grade of the road to meet the existing railroad crossing. Short time frame for this project as road had to be closed and traffic re-routed while the bridge was being removed and approximately 40,000 cubic yards of excavation had to be hauled off. Excavation was hauled to an approved site, leveled and seeded. Due to the type of soil found under the excavated approaches, underdrain pipe was installed as well as geotextile fabric on the roadbed. Gravel was then installed, leveled and compacted. Fine grading and the installation of hot top, line striping and loaming and seeding finished the job. The “haul road” was damaged during the road construction and was paved upon project completion. |

| Project started August 18, 2009. With long hours and extra days worked by Country Fare employees and cooperation from Mother Nature with great weather, Maine DOT allowed us to have the surface paving installed, which then allowed us to complete our portion of this project. Our portion was completed October 27, 2009. No punch list. The work remaining are railroad related items. |
